- Promoting interdisciplinary research cooperation through networks
between research institutions in Arab countries and other parts
of the world.
- Operating the most extended international information services
on contemporary Middle East studies with more than 3000 recipients
(DAVO-Info-Service,
DAVO-Nachrichten, EURAMES-Info-Service).
- Coordinating and implementing international congresses on contemporary
research in the Arab world (DAVO
Congress, World
Congress for Middle Eastern Studies).
- Promoting the spread of knowledge about the Arab World in the
general public through publications, lectures
and other presentations in the media as well as in seminars at
the Institute
of Geography, University of Mainz.
